Course Description:
This course explores the evolving role of environmental, health, and safety (EHS) leadership in building safer, more connected organizations. Participants will examine modern approaches to Serious Injury and Fatality (SIF) prevention, including how to identify and address high-severity risks before incidents occur. The course also provides an overview of emerging artificial intelligence applications in safety management and their impact on risk identification, behavior monitoring, and operational decision-making. In addition, attendees will gain insight into how EHS leaders can strengthen collaboration across departments, align safety initiatives with organizational goals, and influence proactive risk management throughout the business.
Learning Objectives:
- Understand the differences between Serious Injury and Fatality (SIF) metrics and total recordable incident rates, and identify strategies for recognizing and controlling high-severity risk factors before incidents occur.
- Assess the current capabilities of AI tools in safety management, evaluate their potential application within an organization, and recognize the continuing role of human judgment in decision-making.
- Understand how EHS professionals can serve as organizational integrators rather than enforcers by fostering collaboration, influencing decision-making, and supporting proactive safety leadership across departments.
