EHS Coordinator – JELD-WEN, Inc. Caledonia

JELD-WEN is currently seeking an EHS Coordinator to join our growing team.

The Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) Coordinator will coordinate the environmental, health and safety initiatives. They will assist site leadership with implementing site-specific policies and standards to ensure compliance with regulatory and JELD-WEN Global EH&S requirements, prevent injuries & illnesses, reduce workers’ compensation cost, and help create a strong EH&S culture.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Identifying environmental, health & safety risks and hazards in the workplace and implementing prevention programs.
  • Advising site leaders and employees on how to minimize risks and hazards in the workplace and improve environmental, health & safety performance.
  • Assisting the site in complying with applicable environmental, health & safety requirements.
  • Training site employees on environmental, health & safety requirements.
  • Assisting sites with implementing JELD-WEN EH&S programs, policies & standards, and EH&S management system.
  • Training production managers to recognize hazards and risks and supporting production employees in identifying and controlling hazards and risks.
  • Conducting environmental, health & safety inspections in the workplace.
  • Supporting implementation of emergency procedures (such as fire alarm drills).
  • Offering general environmental, health & safety advice to all employees.
  • Reporting injuries, illnesses and near misses to the EHS Manager and Site Leadership.
  • Completing site specific EH&S reports and communicating performance with the site leadership.
  • Tracking environmental, health & safety inspection and audit findings to closure.
  • Assisting site EHS Manager with establishing and maintaining a site environmental, health & safety council.
  • Sharing environmental, health & safety lessons learned and encourage a learning culture on environmental, health & safety.
  • Partnering closely with all site leaders to create, maintain and improve our safety environment.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 1-2 years of environmental, health & safety experience in a manufacturing organization.
  • Strong communication, presentation, training and facilitation, project management skills are essential.
  • Experience in LEAN and Continuous Improvement manufacturing principles.
  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills.
  • Process safety management experience desired.
  • Exemplary customer service skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong analytical skills to analyze safety & health data.

Environmental, Health & Safety Specialist – Woods Construction & Interiors, Sterling Heights, MI

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Environmental, Health & Safety Specialist to join our team and oversee safety compliance on construction projects throughout the United States. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in safety, environmental and DOT regulatory compliance and a proven ability to create, implement, and enforce safety programs and protocols that ensure a safe working environment for our team members, as well as the general public. You will play a critical role in minimizing risk, improving safety culture, and ensuring compliance with OSHA standards and company policies.

Key Responsibilities:

    • Develop and implement site-specific safety plans, including emergency response, hazard identification, and risk mitigation.
    • Conduct site inspections to identify hazards, ensure compliance, perform necessary training and recommend corrective actions.
    • Train and mentor employees and subcontractors on safe work practices, regulatory requirements, and company safety procedures.
    • Maintain and update safety documentation, including training documentation, site-level toolbox talks and safety inspections, machine and other required certifications, and safety audits.
    • Collaborate with Project Managers, Superintendents, Site Foremen, and subcontractors to integrate safety into all projects.
    • Lead safety meetings, toolbox talks, and orientation sessions to reinforce safe practices and company safety culture.
    • Participate in accident investigations, near-hit assessments and formal reports or observations of unsafe conditions to determine root causes and implement corrective actions.
    • Ensure compliance with OSHA, federal, state, and local safety regulations, and maintain necessary certifications.
    • Work closely with field teams to anticipate safety challenges specific to remodels, as well as ground-up projects, including crane operations, heavy equipment usage, excavation, and fall protection.
    • Additional responsibilities may include participating in DEI initiatives, as well as local and national safety and workforce associations (ASSP, CAM, AGC, CareerQuest, etc.)

    Qualifications:

    • Must be willing to travel to job sites throughout the US. Travel expectation 25+%
    • Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety, Construction Management, or a related field (preferred).
    • 2+ years of experience in construction safety management.
    • In-depth knowledge of OSHA regulations and best practices in construction safety.
    • Certifications such as OSHA 30, CSP (Certified Safety Professional), CHST (Construction Health and Safety Technician), or equivalent (preferred).
    • Demonstrated experience with risk assessments, incident investigation, and safety audits. • Proficiency in safety management software and Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
    • Excellent communication and leadership skills with the ability to influence and enforce safety policies.
    • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
    • Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a plus.
