Lockout-Tagout and Arc Flash Safety

Lockout-Tagout: Good to Great

Lockout-Tagout (LOTO) is consistently among the Top 5 or 6 most cited violations by OSHA.  Lack of proper procedures or enactment contributes to hundreds of thousands of accidents, tens of thousands of injuries, and hundreds of deaths every year.  Most companies have a LOTO program, but it is a program they are often seeking to improve upon.  This presentation will help you to take your program from “Good” to GREAT!  Areas of improvement include:  Procedures, Energy Source Identification, Training and LOTO Strategy & Devices.

Arc Flash:  Non-Existent to Sustained

Arc Flash is one of the least understood requirements for a great many companies.  Arc Flash explosions produce some of the most horrific, yet most preventable, life-changing accidents.  As compared to LOTO, most companies either have or do not have a compliant Arc Flash program – there is no “partial” compliance.  This presentation will discuss the basics of Arc Flash and the OSHA/NFPA requirements for compliance, including the ways to determine the Hazard Level (engineered study vs. table method), labeling, audits, and training.

Note: This is NOT a discussion on welding-related arcs.

Speaker Seth Glazer

Seth Glazer is on his second year with Brady Corporation, but he has spent the last 17 years in the Safety Industry, focusing specifically on employee training and the prevention of Arc Flash injuries and proper Lockout Tagout strategies across many industries.
